Goals in each half from new signings Ewan MacPherson and Jamie Docherty saw the Blue Brazil kick off their pre- season preparations with a win at the Fleet Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
Calum Elliot utilised most of his squad against the East of Scotland League First Division side, and also gave a run out to a couple of trialists as he looks to add to his squad ahead of the Lowland League campaign.
It took only 12 minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Jack Tait sent over a cross from the left wing into the path of Ewan MacPHERSON who saw his shot fumbled by keeper MacAulay Jarrett as it rolled over the line.
In 33 minutes, the hosts almost snatched an equaliser when one time Cowden youth player Callum Strang sent a ball across the face of the goal before being cleared for a corner.
Then two minutes from the break they drew level when a shot from Darren Ormiston was cleared for a corner by Gregor Jordan.
The resultant flag kick by Aiden McAvoy saw a glancing header from Campbell TULLY beat the Trialist in the Cowden goal.
Calum Elliot made for changes to his side for the second half with a further sub coming on midway through the second half to ensure that everyone got a run out.
On the hour mark player/assistant manager Kevin Smith, who had only been on the field for a minute sent a long free kick just over the bar.
Then with 12 minutes to go the veteran forward came close again when MacPherson squared the ball to him but his shot was cleared by sub keeper Matthew Wallace.
A minute later Jamie DOCHERTY got what proved to be the winner when his low 20 yard free kick was fumbled by the keeper and trickled into the net.
