Competition: Irn-Bru 2nd Division Referee: Charlie Richmond
Venue: Recreation Park Attendance: 638
Man of the Match:

Goals in each half from Bryan Prunty and Stuart Noble saw our 13 week run as league leaders come to an end as we were still left searching for our first win at RecreationPark in 14 years.

Following the weekend defeat from Peterhead there were three changes to the side with Craig Winter, Brian Fairbairn and Jay Stein returning with Dene Droudge, Mark Ramsay and Scott Linton dropping to the bench.

In the opening minutes the Wasps Grant tested Hay with a shot from 20 yards which was saved by the keeper.

The home side did however open the scoring after 16 minutes when Grant sent over a cross from the right which saw Bryan PRUNTY fire home with a well placed shot.

Soon after Hay was called into action to deny Noble with a close range shot then a strong free kick from Scott was stopped by the Cowden custodian.

Our first real attempt on the home goal saw Wardlaw send a shot over the bar from ten yards then Robertson also saw a shot from the ten yard mark go wide of the target.

At the other end Carroll brought out a good save from Hay with a powerful 25 yard free kick.

Early in the second half we had a good chance of an equaliser but Fairbairn saw his curling shot from 22 yards go just wide of the post.

Ferguson then twice came close for the hosts before they added a second goal with 56 minutes gone.

A long clearance from Crawford was met in the Cowden box by Stuart NOBLE who saw his first shot blocked by Hay but he latched onto the rebound to slot the ball home from seven yards.

We however battled on and were rewarded with a goal 12 minutes later when Fairbairn sent in a cross from the right for Paul McQUADE to stab the ball past Crawford from close range.

Alloa pushed for a killer third goal with a strong shot from Ferguson being saved by Hay, however Cowden finished strongly with both Ramsay and McGregor being denied by Crawford as the Wasps held onto take over at the top of the table.
