After the Sunday defeat at Tannadice we went down to a second successive defeat from a side from the City of Discovery as Sofien Moussa bagged a 21 minute first half hat trick to ensure that his side qualified for the knock out stages of the cup.
Joe McGovern continued in goal after replacing McGurn at half time in the United game, while Josh Morris came into the side with Matthew McInally dropping to the bench.
Allan had the first effort of the night on target with a free kick which was saved by the diving McGovern, and soon after the keeper was once again called into action turning away a powerful 35 drive from Kerr.
Deacon then ran to the bye line and sent in a dangerous cross which was eventually cleared but with 16 minutes gone the Dees opened the scoring when Allan sent over a cross from the left to the far post for Sofien MOUSSA to volley into the net from six yards.
Six minutes later MOUSSA got his second goal of the night when McGowan sent a deep cross beyond the far post to Deacon who chipped the ball to the Tunisian who scored from an overhead kick.
McGovern then parried a diving header from O’Dea following an Allan free kick then blocked a Moussa effort.
After coming close with a couple of headers MOUSSA completed his hat trick in 37 minutes when Deacon made a run down the right before cutting the ball back to McGowan who sent a cross into the six yard box for Moussa to head past McGovern.
The second half proved to be a tamer affair with Dundee probably happy with their points while we looked to avoid a drubbing with our best chance of the night coming late on when Swann jinxed his way to the bye line sending the ball across the face of goal but the ball was cleared.
