The under 20 side rounded off their season with a bizarre Fife Cup Final win over Raith Rovers at Starks Park.

 

Going into the 93rd minute of the game, and leading 2-1, the floodlights went out and after a ten minute delay the game was initially abandoned only for the remaining two minutes or so to be eventually played once power was restored.

 

Rovers, who had won the Development League East, had previously beaten us three times in the league but it was Cowden who opened the game brightly.

 

Muirhead headed just wide in the opening minute before Denton sent a shot just past the post while at the other end Donoghue denied Thorsen.

 

As Raith came more into the game Dall saw a shot come off the underside of the bar which was saved by the keeper, who later tipped another Dall effort over the bar.

 

Five minutes from the break Rovers hit the woodwork once more when a shot from Berry came off the post.

 

Two goals in a five minute spell however gave us the lead, firstly in 50 minutes when keeper Brian knocked a clearance from a Denton header into the path of TRIALIST who slotted home.

 

Five minutes later we doubled our lead when Swann swept a cross into the box for Cameron MUIRHEAD to fire high into the net from just inside the box.

 

With seven minutes to go Rovers pulled a goal back when Ryan STEVENSON fired home a high shot from 22 yards to set up a grandstand finish but the Cowden defence held firm to lift the cup.
