Man of the Match: Mark Baxter |
A goal from substitute Michael Mullen with 12 minutes to go ended our unbeaten run of games as the Binos moved within three points of us.
Mark Baxter replaced the injured Dene Droudge while Gareth Wardlaw returned to the side after his suspension along with Craig Winter with John Dempster and Jay Stein dropping out of the side.
The main talking point of the game came after 15 minutes when
A Baxter pass had sent the Cowden forward racing towards the home goal but he was sent crashing by the keeper.
The opening period saw few chances for either side although Winter sent a 35 yard shot narrowly past the post after 35 minutes and six minutes later McQuade shot wide of the target following a McGregor cross.
Four minutes after the break we had our best chance of the afternoon when Wardlaw flicked the ball to Robertson who had a clear run at goal but clipped the ball just past the post.
With 13 minutes to go
A minute later however the Binos broke the deadlock when Aitken sent over a corner which Hay failed to clear and the ball broke to Graham who header found Michael MULLEN who fired home at the second attempt.
Cowden battled on for an equaliser and Wardlaw had the ball in the net after Christie had spilled a Fairbairn cross but the ‘goal’ was ruled offside and in the dying seconds Dempster headed just over.
