COWDENBEATH 0 BERWICK RANGERS 2

Saturday 17th September, Ladbrokes League Two, Match No 6, Att 327.

Our inconsistent start to the league campaign continued as two first half goals from Steven Thomson gave Berwick the points.

Things had opened brightly enough and following two successive corners Notman cleared a Glen shot off the line.

Then with eight minutes gone a 25 yard free kick from Mullen crashed off the visitor’s crossbar.

However it was Berwick who opened the scoring with 27 minutes gone when Steven THOMSON was allowed space in the Cowden box before slotting the ball past McGurn.

Things then got worse seven minutes later when McGurn failed to hold the ball from a cross and THOMSON was on hand to slot home his second goal of the afternoon.

We opened the second half brightly looking to get back into the game and Mullen saw a 25 yard shot go just wide.

Then Walker pulled off a good save from Glen’s 12 yard drive following a Renton cross on the hour.

At the other end Hurst came close to adding a third for the visitors when his flick beat McGurn but the ball went inches wide.

With 22 minutes to go a Renton shot came off the inside of the post which perhaps summed up our luck on the day.
