Man of the Match:

Despite extending our unbeaten run to six games we fell five points behind league leaders Alloa Athletic after failing to breakthrough a resolute Sons defence.

There were two changes to the side which had draw with the Wasps in midweek. Brian Fairbairn replaced Jon Robertson while Craig Winter returned for his 350th Cowden appearance against his old side taking over from youngster Jon Robertson.

In a game of few clear cut chances for either side Fairbairn sent over a cross after just two minutes which was miss kicked by Stein and the danger was cleared by Dunlop.

Soon after Wardlaw fired in a low shot from just inside the box which was held by keeper Vojacek.

Cowden enjoyed most of the play in the opening period and Fairbairn fired in a free kick to Stein who was denied by the keeper while McQuade sent a shot wide of the post. In a rare Dumbarton attack a shot from Wyness was held by Hay.

The second period opened with Winters breaking through for the visitors but Hay once again kept the score level.

Dempster, who had scored after coming off the bench in the two previous games, replaced McQuade and with 66 minutes gone he was set up by Linton at the edge of the box and after beating his marker saw his shot go inches past the post.

Six minutes later Stein played the ball into the box but Smith managed to block attempts from both Dempster and Wardlaw.

Then a long clearance from Droudge bounced high in the visiting box and the keeper grabbed the ball despite the attention of Dempster and Wardlaw.

Wardlaw then went on a good run but his shot was blocked on the edge of the box, while Mbu fired in a shot from just outside the box which went high over the bar.

As the game drew to a close we made a few last gasp attempts at getting a winner with Baxter firing in a free kick which was headed just over by Dempster while Dempster himself fired the ball across the face of the Dumbarton goal but Ramsay just failed to connect.

Ramsay then sent in a cross for McGregor who saw his header saved by the keeper to ensure a point a piece.
