A Greig Spence goal on the half hour was enough to give us our second win over the Loons this season, which sees us leapfrog them in the league table.

There was one enforced change in the starting line up with Declan Hughes coming in for Kyle Miller who broke is foot at Gayfield Park the previous Monday.

 

Spence almost opened the scoring early on when he was set up by Brett but his shot went wide of the post.

At the other end Swankie sent over a cross which was met by Campbell whose shot from the edge of the box was fumbled by Sneddon but the young keeper was able to smother the ball to deny Hay who was following up.

 

A Campbell free kick was then met by Swankie in the box but his shot hit the side netting.

Hay then sent the ball across the face of the Cowden goal but Deholm’s effort was blocked by Sneddon and the danger was eventually cleared.

After all the early Loons misses we scored with our first shot on target with 30 minutes gone when Donaldson slotted the ball to Greig SPENCE who sent the ball past Douglas from 12 yards.

 

Soon after Spence had a great chance to double the score when a he picked up a long ball from Kerr but his effort was blocked by the keeper.

Denholm then drew a good save from Sneddon who parried his shot his 20 yard shot as the first half drew to a close.

 

Five minutes into the second half Douglas once again denied Spence a second goal, after being set up by Hughes, the strikers close range shot was blocked by the veteran keeper at the post.

 

Dick Campbell had a last throw of the dice to salvage the game with a triple substitution in the closing 13 minutes but chances were few and far between and the former Cowden managers seven and a half year reign at Station Park drew to a close.
