A dramatic penalty shoot- out saw the Bairns edge Tuesday nights League Cup tie at the Falkirk Stadium.
There were four changes to the starting line -up which had lost to Alloa, Kenny Adamson, Thomas O’Brien, Darren Brownlie and Craig Sutherland dropped out of the line up with Iain Campbell, Kyle Miller, Craig Johnston and new signing Kudus Oyenuga coming in.
Falkirk’s Cooper had a few early chances before Milne came close to breaking the deadlock but with only MacDonald to beat he sent his shot wide.
As the first half drew to a close, Flynn done well to punch away a shot from Sibbald and soon after denied Bia-Bi.
We came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half when Higgins fired in a 30 yard shot which crashed off the underside of the cross bar and the danger was cleared.
In 104 minutes the Bairns had a great opportunity when Wedderburn fouled Loy on the edge of the bye line but the striker blasted the resulting penalty well over.
As the game came to a close Johnston fired in a curling shot but it took a deflection and went out for a corner.
It was then onto penalties. Higgins, Milne and Boulding both saw the opening kicks saved by the respective keepers.
Vaulks, Roy and Shepherd along with Brett and Campbell converted their kicks to make it 3-2 when Rowan saw his kick hit the post before Wedderburn converted.
Johnston then saw our sixth kick saved by MacDonald while Craig Sibbald fired past Flynn to see the home side through.
