Two first half goals saw Alloa record their second win of the season over us at Central Park last Saturday.
There was one change to the side which had bowed out of the Scottish Cup the previous week with Jon Robertson taking over from Lewis Milne who dropped to the bench.
After three minutes Stewart got on the end of a Morton head flick following a pass from Stevenson and his left footed shot was stopped by a challenge from Gordon.
Ten minutes later Stewart made a brilliant run inside from the left and set up Robertson 20 yards out but his finish was too high. Minutes later Hemmings tried his luck from 25 yards but his shot was saved by Bain.
With 18 minutes gone however it was the Wasps who took the lead when a shot from Kevin CAWLEY 30 yards out took a wicked deflection off Armstrong and flew high over Flynn.
The ever lively Stewart then beat two defenders and closed in on Bain but the keeper pulled off a diving save at the expense of a corner.
In 32 minutes Alloa went further ahead when Cawley sent over a cross into the Cowden box which Andy KIRK headed home from seven yards.
Soon after Kirk had the ball in the back of the net once more but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The start of the second half opened with McKenzie replacing Morton and within two minutes the sub had a great chance to reduce the deficit.
Bain fouled Stewart on the edge of the box but the custodian redeemed himself by diving to save McKenzie’s spot kick.
With 22 minutes left on the clock former Central Parker Simmons came close to adding a third when he flicked a Cawley cross but the ball was held on the line by Flynn.
As the game ran down a Cowan cross was headed into the path of Robertson by Hemmings but he blasted his shot over from ten yards, while a 20 yard effort by McKenzie was held by Bain.
