Following our narrow defeat at Championship leaders Hamilton seven days previously the floodgates opened in the second half at the Energy Assets Arena as we went down our heaviest competitive defeat of the season.
The good performance at New Douglas Park saw Colin Cameron send out the same starting line -up although Greg Stewart was missing from the bench after picking up an ankle injury in the previous Thursday’s training session.
Things started brightly enough when we opened the scoring with 17 minutes gone. Wedderburn cut out a Mensing pass which allow Kane Hemmings to race clear and coolly roll the ball past keeper Jamieson.
The hosts grabbed an equaliser three minutes from the break when Scott sent over a corner which was headed home by Callum Fordyce.
On the hour Livingston went ahead when Fordyce’s head was once again on the end of a Scrougall corner.
Twelve minutes later Andy Barrowman put them further ahead when he latched onto a Scott cross and slid the ball past Adam.
Then two goals in the closing eight minutes made the home sides win even more emphatic.
Mark Burchill volleyed home the fourth while with three minutes to go Fordyce completed his hat trick when he headed home from a Scott free kick.
Scott himself almost got on the score sheet twice in the dying seconds of the game, firstly he saw a shot clip the top of the crossbar then Armstrong made a goal line clearance to deny him a goal.
