After taking the best part of 83 years to record a league win at Central Park it took the Jags only four days to repeat the feat as they won the second half of our double header.
There were three changes from the midweek defeat with David Cowan, Scott Linton and Kyle Miller returning to the line -up. Jason Naismith and Greg Stewart dropped to the bench while Dean Brett was side lined by injury.
Thistle had the first chance of the afternoon after just five minutes but Welsh’s cross to Lawless saw the frontman send his shot over the bar from 10 yards.
However the Jags took the lead just seven minutes later when Craigen set up Kris Doolan who ran clean through the middle and slotted the ball wide of the stranded Stewart.
Two minutes later they almost added a second when a Lawless corner saw the ball land at the feet of Muirhead who shot wide from eight yards.
With 20 minutes gone O’Donnell tried his luck from 20 yards with his low shot going inches wide of the post.
Adamson then had to be alert blocking a 12 yard drive from Doolan who had got clear of Armstrong.
But after all of the visitors pressure it was Cowden who were next to score on the half hour when Craig Moore latched onto a long throw in from Linton to head home from four yards.
Thistle tried to bounce back and five minutes from the break Erskine fired in an 18 yard shot which was held by Stewart.
The visitors came out for the second half looking to get back into the lead and Craigen fired a shot into the side netting while Lawless saw a 25 yard effort drift wide.
However in 62 minutes they got what proved to be the winner when Craigen sent a cross into the box which was headed home at the far post by Kris Doolan.
Minutes later they almost added a third goal but after getting clear of the home defence Lawless sent his shot over the bar.
With 19 minutes to go Moore sent a shot across the face of the visiting goal but it went inches wide of the target.
Coult and Stewart both came on for the closing stages as we looked to salvage a point with the later having a good 16 yard shot blocked by Balatoni.
As the clock wound down we almost grabbed a leveller in the dying seconds but Stevenson’s free kick bounced off the underside of the crossbar and Fox managed to block Moore’s shot from the rebound.
