Cowden’s Scottish Youth Cup adventure came to an abrupt end against SPL Killie at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Kilmarnock youngsters sit in the top half of the SPL Under 20 League and fielded several players with experience of playing for their first team in to top division.
The Central Parkers went into the tie without the duo of Jack Nicholson and Ben Anthony, who had been regular scorers on the road to the Quarter Finals, due to suspensions.
Before a crowd of around 300 the home side broke the deadlock after 18 minutes when Chris Johnston broke through to slot the ball past the advancing Wilson from 14 yards.
Six minutes later they doubled their advantage when McKeown sent over a cross from the left for Jude Winchester to head home.
Nine minutes from the break Cowden had their best chance of pulling a goal back when Callaghan crossed the ball to McDonald who headed over the crossbar.
However four minutes from the interval the home side went further ahead when after keeper Wilson and pulled off a great save from a McKeown free kick with the ball eventually falling into the path of Lee Ashcroft who headed home from close range.
Kilmarnock went further ahead four minutes into the second half when Robbie Muirhead fired in a powerful 20 yard shot.
Two goals in a two minute period finally completed a miserable afternoon for Cowden, in 68 minutes Johnston headed home his second goal of the day and two minutes later Rory McKenzie lobbed home a sixth goal.
