Three second half goals saw the Pars chalk up their tenth successive league win at Central Park on Saturday afternoon.
The pre-match build up saw chairman Donald Findlay unfurl last season’s championship flag along with Gordon Brown and Jim Leishman, while mascot Bluebell the Coo entertained the crowd with a motorbike display!
There were two changes to the side which had went down at Montrose the previous week with both Kenny Adamson and Mark Ramsay returning to the line- up while Ruben Garcia Rey and Thomas O’Brien both dropped out due to illness.
In six minutes Coult sent a header past keeper Gallacher and into the Dunfermline net but the ‘goal’ was ruled out for offside.
Five minutes later Mbu came to our rescue when he blocked an effort from Thomson.
Then at the other end a Ramsay pass looked to have set up Coult but Gallacher slid out and saved at his feet.
However seconds before the half time whistle Flynn failed to gather a ball under a challenge from Thomson and the loose ball fell to Andy Barrowman who slotted home from close range.
Four minutes into the second half Dunfermline got the crucial second goal when a corner from Whittle caught out the Cowden back line and the ball fell to the unmarked Ryan Thomson who headed past Flynn from ten yards.
As we looked to get back into the game a Linton cross was met by Coult but his header was gathered low down by the keeper.
With 14 minutes to go the game was all but over when Man of the Match Thomson fired high into the net from 12 yards after a mistake in the centre of the Cowden defence.
Stewart, who had replaced Stevenson, came close to reducing the deficit along with Adamson who headed over the bar from six yards.
As the clock wound down Josh Falkingham grabbed the pick of the visiting goals with seven minutes remaining when he fired home a powerful 30 yard shot high into the roof of the net.
