The 19s went down to their first defeat since early December against second top Stenhousemuir at Ochilview on Sunday afternoon. The Cowden cause wasn’t helped however, with both Jack Nicholson and Jordyn Gill both playing despite suffering the effects of a virus, while Liam Callaghan had to go off for the last half hour after being injured.
It took the Warriors only eight minutes to open the scoring when Jordan Burns slotted home a low shot from eight yards.
We quickly attempted to get back into the game with long range efforts from both Milne and Miller going just past the post.
On the half hour Love almost doubled the home sides’ advantage but his shot on the turn went just wide of the Cowden goal.
Five minutes later however the Warriors did go two up when Jordan McGuire headed home in off the post after several attempts by the visiting defence to clear the ball.
Johnstone shot just wide two minutes after the restart as we sought to reduce the leeway and at the other end keeper Wilson did well to block an O’Grady shot.
With 15 minutes to go the home side went further ahead when Ross Brash fired home a low 20 yard shot which Wilson got a hand to but couldn’t keep out of the net and with the last touch of the game Stuart Love headed home a fourth goal.
