Goals in each half from Greg Stewart and Lewis Coult saw a comprehensive win over Stenhousemuir, their first home defeat of the season, which saw us move three points clear of Arbroath after their game with Stirling Albion was abandoned due to the high winds which swept the country.
There were three changes to the side which had drawn with Arbroath in our last outing. Kenny Adamson was suspended, Thomas O’Brien had broken his foot during a training session while Coult dropped down to the bench.
Coming back into the starting line up were John Armstrong, Greg Stewart and Jordan Morton.
We kicked off with the howling gale at our backs and almost opened the scoring after 10 minutes when McKenzie capitalised on a poor clearance from keeper Brown who atoned with a goal line clearance.
At the other end McKindlay fired in a 45 yard effort which flew narrowly past the post.
The deadlock was finally broken eight minutes from the break when Greg Stewart was teed up by Ramsay after another change forward from McKenzie and swept the ball home.
Playing into the wind in the second half we looked the more likely of the two sides to add to the score.
McKenzie was booked for simulation three minutes into the second period after he appeared to be fouled just outside of the box.
On the hour mark McKenzie saw an effort cleared off the line by McMillan, but six minutes later the Warriors had a penalty claim waived aside after a Murray cross accidently struck off Robertson’s arm.
McMillan then had the home side’s best chance of an equaliser but blazed his shot over the bar from six yards.
The points were sealed with just two minutes remaining when a McKenzie shot was parried by Brown into the path of substitute Coult who slotted home his seventh goal of the season.
Armstrong for a foul and Coult, for his goal celebration were also booked along with Rodgers of the home side for over protesting their penalty claim.
