Date: 6th August 2011 Kick off: 4:00pm
Competition: Irn-Bru 2nd Division Referee: Gary Hilland
Venue: Station Park Attendance: 469
Man of the Match:

After our two cup exits the league campaign opened with a point at Station Park but we really should have taken full points after dominating proceedings for long spells.

We settled quickly into the game and came close after only five minutes through Stewart and in ten minutes went ahead.

Linton created the danger with a fierce shot from just outside the box which home keeper Paterson failed to hold and Mark Ramsay was lying handy to poke the ball into the net from less than six yards. As Cameron and Robertson sprayed passes all over the pitch it was the visitors who looked dangerous and Ramsay fired a shot wide before Stewart left the fray.

Coult was soon posing problems for the Loons, with his height and close control, and one of his lay-offs fell to Morton who shot over.

Former Central Parker Crawford threatened for Forfar but Bejaoui mopped up the danger and before the break a lovely Cowden move saw Robertson test Paterson.

Cowden made a slow start to the second-half and the Loons struck to level things after 55 minutes. A  Byers cross fell kindly to Mark McCulloch and his effort just beat Bajaoui.

Cowden retaliated with Coult's shot saved by Paterson but in 62 minutes the Loons went ahead when Morton nudged Ross in the box and Chris Templeman made no mistake from the spot.

We soon fought back and Ramsay's shot was gathered by Paterson before Coult headed wide.

With 13 minutes left we were back on level terms when Linton sliced open the Loons defence with a lovely pass and Lewis Coult expertly guided the ball past Paterson.

In a hectic finish to the game Marc McKenzie almost won it for us with the last kick of the game after his effort beat the keeper but ended up inches wide.

Adamson, Cameron, Morton and Coult were booked along with Tulloch and Hegarty of the home side.
