Man of the Match:

A much changed side finished the league campaign as it started with a defeat from Ross County.

Needing a near impossible eleven goal win against the Staggies to avoid the play offs manager Jimmy Nicholl opted to head to Glebe Park to check out Brechin City and Ayr United ahead of the play offs.

Assistant manager Colin Cameron and Stevie Crawford took charge of the side at Dingwall and made several changes to the line up to rest players ahead of the midweek trip to Brechin.

Kenny Adamson returned to the line up after serving suspension and was joined by Marc McKenzie, John Ferguson and Paul Byrne.

Scott Linton and Greg Stewart dropped to the bench while Crawford and Lewis Coult watched the game from the side lines.

The home side were looking to end a poor season on a high note and almost broke the deadlock after 11 minutes when Gardyne hit the post.

Twenty minutes later they did however take the lead when Scott Morrison fired a left foot shot from the edge of the box into the bottom right hand corner of the Cowden net.

In a game of few clear cut chances for us Ferguson came close twice as we searched for an equaliser having a shot blocked by Roy after 72 minutes and seconds later he headed wide of the target after connecting with an Armstrong cross.

With nine minutes remaining the home side doubled their advantage when Scott Boyd headed home from close range following a Brittain corner.

The points were then wrapped up with two minutes left on the clock when Mark Cocoran added a third from close range.
