Stirling Albion 3  Cowdenbeath FC 4

Date: 5th March 2011 Kick off: 3:00pm
Competition: Irn-Bru 1st Division Referee: Euan Norris
Venue: Forthbank Stadium Attendance: 735
Man of the Match:

A dramatic closing 13 minutes saw us grab a sensational win as moved seven points ahead of our hosts at the bottom of the table.

Former Rangers and Derby County man Bob Malcolm was a surprise trialist in Jimmy Nicholl’s line up taking over from the injured Lee Makel. Stevie Crawford also came back into the side with Scott Linton dropping to the bench.

The game was only a few minutes old when we saw the first drama of the afternoon when Smith had the ball in the Cowden net but he had used his hand and unlike Maradona referee Norris was on hand to dish out a yellow card.

The deadlock was however broken five minutes from the break when Brown sent over a cross from left to Sean Welsh who blasted the ball into the roof of the net.

Two goal from Michael Mullen then appeared to have sealed our fate. Firstly he took advantage of a mix up between Hay and Malcolm to lob the ball home after 58 minutes and nine minutes later he was set up by Smith to slot the ball home.

With 13 minutes to go Mark Ramsay fired home an unstoppable shot from 35 yards and five minutes later he brought us right back into the game when he slotted home from the penalty spot after Stewart had been brought down by Buist who became the fourth Stirling player to be sent off against us this season.

Cowden went all out for an equaliser and it came with a minute to go when Corrigan headed against his own bar and the rebound fell to Archie Campbell who headed home.

The drama did not end there however as with two minutes of injury time gone Greg Stewart fired home a dramatic winner.

In a frantic game referee Norris dished out yellow cards to Armstrong, Coult, Malcolm and Campbell with Corrigan and Welsh of the home side also booked along with the afore mention Smith and Buist.
