Our Scottish Youth Cup campaign proved to be a short one as three second half goals from the Bully Wee saw them progress to the last 16 at Central Park.

Things opened brightly for Cowden and in the first minute Miller put Docherty through on goal but his shot was saved by keeper McCue. Clyde then replied with shots from both Fitzpatrick and Sloss going over the bar.

The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes when Pyper floated a free kick deep into the visitors box and Callam McNeill headed home from ten yards.

Soon after McDowell fired in a snap shot which was turned around the post by Wilson while at the other end we really should have went two up but Callaghan’s close range shot was cleared by a Clyde defender.

McCue then kept the visitors in the game saving a long range effort from Milne while he managed to block an angled shot from Gill.

Wilson however had to be at his best four minutes from the break to tip a 22 yard free kick from Fitzpatrick over the bar.

The turning point of the afternoon came after 55 minutes when Fitzpatrick sent a free kick into the Cowden box and Gill was judged to have fouled McCluskey and Jordan McDowall slotted home the resulting spot kick.

Eight minutes later the visitors took the lead when a 30 yard lob from Craig Rankin dipped to beat Wilson and 14 minutes from time they completed the scoring when Chris Ferguson fired home from 15 yards.
