Dave Wright (Centre Forward/Inside Forward, 1926-27) - Dave Wright began his senior career with Raith Rovers. His spell with the Rovers was inauspicious and he joined Dunnikier Juniors. His form at Dunnikier saw him return to the seniors with East Fife. Wright readily showed he had what it takes at Bayview. In season 1925/26, Dave was East Fife's top scorer with 23 goals. Rangers and Hearts were both interested but Cowdenbeath were quicker off the mark and signed Dave Wright for a £1,000 fee. Dave played in 34 league games for Cowden in 1926/27 and registered 17 goals. He was equally adept at leading the attack or prompting from an inside-forward berth. Sunderland liked what they saw of Wright and a big fee took him to Roker Park in 1927. Wright spent 3 years on Wearside and then moved to Liverpool. 4 years at Anfield produced 35 goals in 93 games from the prematurely balding Scot. Wright was now recognised as a player with vision, a good dribbler, and a hard worker. After Liverpool, Dave played with Hull City and Bradford before opening up a bakery business back in Kirkcaldy.
