Kenny Ward (Outside right, 1983-86) – Kenny was one of the most popular players ever to grace the Central Park turf. He was quick and could score goals but is best remembered as a magical ball artist. Kenny loved to leave his opponents lying on their backside as he tied them in knots. Kenny joined us from Oakley United. In his first year, Cowden struggled but later he inspired the team which just missed out on promotion in 1985. Sadly he was sold to Forfar in 1986. 4 seasons in Division 1 with Forfar were followed by a move to St Johnstone. Kenny helped St Johnstone to promotion to the Premier League but for some reason was only used intermittently when he was patently worth a more regular spot in the team. Kenny then joined Hamilton – well remembered is the hat trick he scored v Cowden in a 1st Division encounter in 1992/93. He next moved to Dunfermline and was doing well at East End Park until he suffered a bad leg break. He was out for quite a time but went on to conclude his senior career with Falkirk and Clydebank. Kenny had played 379 Scottish League matches and notched 90 goals.
