Biography:

George Wall (Outside Left, 1916-17) - George Wall is the only English internationalist to have played for Cowdenbeath. Born near Sunderland, he signed for Barnsley in 1903. Manchester United signed him for £175 in 1906. 11 seasons with United produced 98 goals in 323 games from this fast, hard shooting, elusive winger. Wall was a member of the United team which won 2 Football League championships and an FA Cup. George was capped 7 times by England and 4 times by the Football League. His finest international hour came in 1909 at Crystal Palace when he scored both English goals in a 2-0 win over Scotland. In 1916, after complicated negotiations, Cowdenbeath succeeded in their ambitious bid to obtain the veteran winger's services. Wall was an instant hit at North End Park with his intricate dribbling and fine passing and shooting. He scored several vital goals as Cowden won the Eastern League championship. His stay at Cowdenbeath only lasted one season. Later he represented Oldham Athletic, Hamilton, Rochdale and Ashton National.
