Jim Taylor (Right half, 1966-73) - Jim Taylor was born not far from Gleneagles. Bobby Brown signed him for St Johnstone in 1963 from Luncarty Juniors. He never was given a chance at Muirton and was freed in 1966. Archie Robertson then signed him for Cowden. Jim was a tall, strong midfielder with a cannonball shot. He was to be a first team regular with Cowden for seven years. In our 1st Division season, 1970/71, he was Cowden’s player of the year. In 1973, he was transferred to St Mirren but didn’t stay long at Paisley. There was also a short spell at Forfar before Jim joined Raith Rovers. He enjoyed a deal of success at Stark’s Park where more often he played at centre half. He used his height and physique to good effect but also liked to play a bit of football at the back – Jim was a cool customer. Jim enjoyed a couple of promotions with the Kirkcaldy side before retiring at the age of 35. He worked as a joiner.
