Biography:

Andy Rolland (Right back, 1961-62, 1964-67, 1980-82) - Andy Rolland from Lumphinnans started with Cowdenbeath Royals. He signed for Cowden in 1961 but was freed at the end of the season. Archie Robertson resigned him in 1964 from Dundonald Bluebell. He then found his true position at right-back. He was one of the new breed of attacking full-backs and thrilled the Cowden fans with his dynamic play and powerful shooting. In 1967, Dundee United paid £10,000 to take Andy to Tannadice. An illustrious 11 year spell with United then followed. He played for Dundee United in a Scottish Cup final and was capped by the Scottish League in 1975/76. After a spell in the USA he was player coach of Dunfermline. Then he returned to Central Park for the 3rd time and soon was player/manager. He built an entertaining and skillful side. Andy's pace was fading but his commitment inspired the side. Cowden agonisingly missed out on promotion following last day drama. A year later Andy stepped down and went junior. He was a Cowden man through and through who always gave us 100%.
