Biography:

Duncan Lindsay (Centre forward, 1926-30) - Duncan Lindsay came to Cowdenbeath from East Fife in 1926. After occasional appearances on the wing he was tried at centre forward in a match v Dunfermline and scored 4 goals. Duncan then was centre forward for the next 116 League games. A bustling, powerful centre, his greatest attribute was devastating pace. In 1927/28, he scored 31 League goals. He also scored 6 goals in a Scottish Cup tie v Johnstone and another 6 in the Fife Cup v St Andrews University. Duncan's goalscoring feats were an irresistible lure and Newcastle paid £2,700 for him in May 1930. Unfortunately, Duncan was expected to fill the boots of Tyneside legend, Hughie Gallagher. In 1930/31, he played scored 12 goals in 19 games for Newcastle. Later, Lindsay scored goals for Bury, Northampton Town, Ashton National, York City and Hartlepools United. Duncan Lindsay scored 82 goals in 126 Scottish 1st Division appearances for Cowdenbeath. No one has bettered this tally for Cowden in the top flight.
