Denis Jack (Left back, 1961-71) – Denis Jack was at Cowdenbeath Royals alongside such players as Andy Rolland, Tom Callaghan and Mike Judge. He played in the Royals’ side against Edinburgh Athletic at Central Park in the Lord Weir Cup semi final. Willie Henderson was in the Edinburgh team and ran the Royals ragged as they lost 9-3. Cowdenbeath born Denis Jack was then Cowden’s regular left-back for a decade from 1961. A solid and dependable sort who partnered players such as Andy Rolland and Bobby Wilson. Denis went on to play in 276 League matches for Cowden (only 3 players have surpassed this). He was another of the modern full backs and had a fast, overlapping style. He preferred to jockey opponents rather than diving into tackles. He helped the club win promotion in 1970 and then played in the 1st Division side of 1970/71. In 1971, he joined Forfar but his career was more or less ended when he suffered a bad injury skippering Forfar at Central Park in a match which Cowden won 7-0. He later confessed he never wished to leave Cowden. Denis now lives in Rosyth.
