Biography:

Roddy Grant (Centre forward, 1986-88) – Born in Gloucester in 1966, Roddy had been rejected as a youngster by Dunfermline. He joined Cowden from Strathbrock Juveniles and scored on his debut at Hampden before following this up with a hat-trick on his home debut v Stenhousemuir to prove an instant hit with the Cowden faithful. Deadly in the air and an exceedingly skilled player, all Roddy lacked was that little touch of pace. He scored 27 League goals in 64 League games for the Blue Brazil before being transferred to St Johnstone for a paltry £15,000 fee. At Perth, Roddy became a cult hero in his two stints with Saints. He was recently voted the most popular player ever to play for St Johnstone by their fans. His first season with Brechin in 2000/01 found him in sparkling form scoring 22 League goals. He has also enjoyed spells with Dunfermline, Partick and Ayr. He then helped Brechin win consecutive promotions. Overall, Roddy made 502 League appearances and scored 157 goals. Now an associate director at St Johnstone.
