Biography:

Tom Glancy (Wing half/Inside forward, 1925-34) – £350 was money well spent by Cowdenbeath to sign Tom Glancy from St Johnstone. Glancy was an experienced inside-forward who had spent many years with Falkirk in the 1st Division. Tom Glancy found his niche at Central Park in the right-half berth and went on to give his home town club 9 seasons of faithful assistance. Glancy made 264 League appearances for Cowden, all in the top flight. His versatility and consistency made him a real favourite. When Cowdenbeath were relegated in 1934, he retired from the game. He had applied unsuccessfully for the manager’s job at Cowdenbeath a few months earlier. Tommy was also a useful golfer, twice being runner up in the Cowdenbeath Golf Club Championship. His son, Watty Glancy, won the Scottish Secondary Juvenile Cup playing with Leslie Hearts, was capped by Scotland at juvenile level. He also was well-known as a sprinter and was Cowden trainer for many years. Tom himself died in Cowdenbeath in 1949.
