Peter Gildea (Outside right, 1904) - Peter was a free-scoring winger with Lochgelly Rangers and turned senior in 1902 with Lochgelly United. Cowdenbeath then signed Gildea in 1904. He was the star of Cowdenbeath's run through to the quarter-final of the Qualifying Cup. Airdrie then signed Peter. He was a popular player at Broomfield and subsequently played with Bury before returning to Lochgelly United. Peter also had 2 brothers. Harry Gildea played with Lochgelly St Patrick’s, Hibs, Grimsby, East Fife, Lochgelly United, Bristol City, Dumbarton and Third Lanark. He was killed in the Great War. Willie Gildea played for Lochgelly St Patrick’s, Falkirk, Bradford City, Birmingham City and Belfast Celtic. Willie won an FA Cup winners medal with Bradford City in 1911. Peter Gildea also had a stint as 'mine host' of the Airdrieonians Bar in Airdrie, became a referee and scouted for Celtic. He was also president of junior club Glencraig Celtic and the Fife Junior FA plus was involved with the Cowdenbeath & District Schools FA.
