Preview: Cowdenbeath v Dumbarton

Posted March 22, 2012

The Blue Brazil welcomes Dumbarton Football Club this Saturday to Central Park for another Irn-Bru Second Division promotion clash.

COWDENBEATH TEAM NEWS

Colin Cameron should have several players back for selection for the game. Greg Stewart, who missed the Stenhousemuir game with a back injury, returned to training this week while Dean Brett is also back in full training and played 45 minutes in a bounce game earlier this week. Joe Mbu is also expected to be available after only making the bench last week due to a thigh strain but David Cowan is still out with a hamstring injury.

Visit Kick Talk radio to listen to pre-match chat with Colin Cameron.

MATCH SPONSORS

Morgans Solicitors & Estate Agents, Dunfermline, are our match sponsors for Saturday’s game. We hope they enjoy their day with us and we would like to thank them for their sponsorship of the game.

COWDEN FORM

We are currently on a nine game unbeaten run, five wins and four draws, since we lost at Forfar on 21st January. Last week’s goalless draw Stenhousemuir saw us keep our unbeaten home record intact. In our 14 league games at Central Park we have won 11 and drawn 3. In these games we have scored 29 goals and conceded 6.

SONS FORM

After their ten game unbeaten run, which was ended by our win at the Rock earlier this month, the Sons have subsequently lost their following games at Arbroath (0-2) and at home to East Fife last Saturday (0-4). Despite their three successive defeats Alan Adamson’s side still remain in third place and will be hopeful of reaching the play-offs. The Sons have the third best away record in the Second Division of their 15 games on the road so far they have won 6, drawn 4 and lost 5. In these games they have scored 27 goals and conceded 25.

SONS TEAM NEWS

Since our visit to the Rock on 6th March midfielder Ryan Borris has joined Third Division Stranraer on an emergency loan. Top scorer for the Sons this season is Bryan Prunty who has scored 14 league and cup goals, he is closely followed in the scoring charts by Scott Agnew who has netted 12 goals.

PREVIOUS GAMES

We are unbeaten against the Sons so far this season with two wins at the Rock and a goalless draw at Central Park. Goals from Marc McKenzie, Jon Robertson, Jordan Morton and Scott Linton helped us to a 4-0 win in September while McKenzie was once again on target in our recent 2-0 win after an early opener from Joe Mbu.

Taking charge of Saturday’s game is Mike Tumilty who will be assisted by Gavin Ross (Stand side) and James Burns.
