The Blue Brazil came back from a goal down to win a hard earned point but could not find a cutting edge in the final third to secure the victory.
We dominated the game from start to finish but despite controlling possession we did not ask enough questions of the home defence. The few chances that did come our way fell to Marc Mckenzie but the wide man - who has had a fantastic season - could not find the net.
Airdrie opened the scoring through a great strike by Sean Lynch (39) before Mark Ramsay cooly slotted home from the penalty spot to level the scores five minutes after the re-start.
Next up is the trip to face title contenders Dumbarton on Tuesday night followed by a derby in Methil on Saturday against play-off hopefuls East Fife.
POST MATCH COMMENTS – COLIN CAMERON
“A point is disappointing when you look at results elsewhere, but we have to start making better choices in the final third.”
The Cowden gaffer continued “It’s going to come down to the strongest team mentally. I’ve been in a similar position when I played with Wolves. We were ten points ahead in the Championship but ended up finishing third, so it can happen.”
POST MATCH COMMENTS – JIMMY BOYLE
Former Cowden promotion winner Jimmy Boyle saw his Airdrie side take a point off Cowden for the first time this season and commented “We’ve not turned up in certain games this season, but we showed real fight and character, so I have to be happy with a point.”
