Albion Rovers and Cowdenbeath played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Cliftonhill as the Blue Brazil bounced back three times to keep top spot on goal difference.
The incessant midweek rain made the pitch marginally playable but it was a credit to both sets of players that the match was an end-to-end spectacle that kept the fans on the edge of their seats for the entire 90 minutes.
Colin Cameron's side have not met many teams as determined and effective as Albion Rovers this season and former Central Parker John Gemmell was the main tormentor with the big striker having a hand in all three home goals. Ex Rover Thomas Flynn (pictured), despite losing three goals, was outstanding on his return to Coatbridge.
Robert Love nipped in between Joe Mbu and Thomas Flynn to open the scoring from a Gemmell cross after only two minutes but the game was all square 14 minutes later when Mark Ramsay found the top corner from 16 yards.
The Rovers regained the lead through a close range effort from Steven Lawless (64) but Cowden were level again within three minutes thanks to a terrific Jon Robertson header.
Lawless looked to have won the game for the home side with 18 minutes remaining but Cowden came back once more after Lewis Coult beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper before setting up Greg stewart (81) to score from 12 yards.
This result and Arbroath's 1-1 draw at home to Brechin City sets up a mouth watering top of the table clash at Central Park next weekend.
