Preview: Brechin City v Cowdenbeath

Posted October 28, 2011

Irn-Bru 2nd Division league leaders Cowdenbeath face early season favourites Brechin City at Glebe Park on Saturday.

Colin Cameron's side made it five out five at home last weekend with the 3-1 win over Forfar Athletic opening up a three point lead at the top of the league.

Goals from Mark Ramsay, Marc McKenzie and Jordan Morton put Brechin to the sword back in August and Cameron is looking for a similar performance from his team this time around.

"It was great to go clear at the top last Saturday but our focus is now very much on Brechin City," commented Cameron.

"Brechin are a very good side and I'm sure they will still have a major say in the promotion race. They have some excellent players at this level and will know that a run of results could propel them back into contention.

"We will have to be on our guard and maintain our high standards if we hope to come back down the road with a result. There is a good team spirit in the camp and competition throughout the squad - players such as Craig Winter, Joe Mbu and Jordan Morton have had to be patient recently but have come into the side recently and performed superbly - which will hopefully keep everyone on their toes and focussed."

Mark Ramsay makes a welcome return to the squad after being sidelined for two months but is short of match fitness. Promising right-back Dean Brett also returns after injury but Cameron is doubtful while Kal Naismith and Danny Mackay miss out.
