Dumbarton 0 Cowdenbeath 3

Posted September 19, 2009

The Blue Brazil put in their best performance of the season to secure their first ever win at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium as a double from Scott McBride helped Cowden to a convincing 3-0 win over Dumbarton.

Scott McBride replaced the injured Paul McQuade in the starting line up and missed a guilt-edged chance early on. Jon Robertson played a wonderful ball into the path of Fairbairn and his cross left McBride with a tap in but the youngster miscued from 6 yards out.

The on loan Dunfermline forward made amends a few minutes later slotting home from close range on 15 minutes after a Robertson cross fell at his feet. Gareth Wardlaw doubled the advantage 8 minutes later after finishing off a quality move. Scott McBride played in Fairbairn down the right wing and 'Frankie' delivered an inch perfect cross for Wardlaw who beat the keeper with a diving header.

Cowden continued their dominance after the break and McBride finished off the scoring in style with a curling shot from 25 yards which found the top left hand corner of the onion bag.

The win has propelled Cowden into 5th place and now face league leaders Stirling Albion at Central Park next weekend.
