Match Preview: Dumbarton v Cowdenbeath

Posted September 17, 2009

Cowden travel to Dumbarton on Saturday looking to continue their good run of form and extend the unbeaten sequence to four games.

A 1st half goal from Jay Stein secured Cowden's first victory of the season last Saturday and moved the Blue Brazil three points clear of this weekend's opponents. Danny Lennon's team were hampered by red cards in the first two games of the season but the young squad have quickly found their feet and impressed with their brand of football.

Dumbarton have had a difficult start to the season but have players with higher league experience - such as Stevie Murray, Scott Chaplain and Derek Carcary - throughout their side and will be expected to be challenging at the other end of the table.  Jim Chapman's team are familiar opponents from the Third Division campaign last season which saw Dumbarton pip the Blue Brazil in the race for the title. Strathclyde Homes Stadium will also be a familiar ground for Craig Winter (pictured) after spending a couple of seasons with the Sons.

Mark Baxter (shoulder) and Darren McGregor (knee) will miss out once again but Jay Shields played for the reserves on Tuesday as he builds up match fitness after missing the entire pre-season due to a foot injury.

The Supporters Club will once again be running a bus. Click here for further information.
