Preview: Arbroath v Cowdenbeath

Posted September 30, 2011

It’s the biggest game in the Scotland this Saturday as Cowden travel to Arbroath for a top of the table clash.

The clubs have started of well with both sides winning all their home games as well as couple of away games.  Last week saw Cowden scrape a win against Albion Rovers while Arbroath scraped a late win in the derby against Brechin City.

Cowden have been brilliant in large spells this season while Arbroath are on a run of 6 successive wins. Away from home we’ve banged in goals with 12 goals in 4 games (the best goals per game ratio away from home in the country) while Arbroath have scored the most number of goals at home in the country by miles.  Goals galore on Saturday then?

Colin Cameron is expecting a spectacle: "Both teams are in good form and scoring goals so it has all the ingrediants for a good game."

"We are looking to go up there and come away with at least a draw. However, we will be set up to win the game.

"it would be a great confidence boost to take the 3 points and go top of the league but there is a long way to go whatever the result.

"I was very pleased to get the win against Albion Rovers last Saturay and satisfied with the 1st half performance. We completely controlled the game for the first 40 minutes but for some reason resorted to going back to front after the interval.

"Credit to Albion Rovers for nicking a goal and coming very close to taking a point from 2-0 down."

Cameron returned to training this week and could come back into contention but the game will come too soon for Mark Ramsay.

The last meeting between the 2 sides was in April 2010 where a Scott Linton goal secured a 1-1 draw.  Our last win was the month before with a Tuesday night win over Arbroath. 2nd half goals from Paul McQuade and Darren McGregor cancelled out Paul Lunans early strike.

Match of the day fact of the week:- Cowden have so far shown that they can defend a lead with no losses once we score the first goal.  We have shown resilience in that we have been behind 3 times and have fought back to win!
