Danny Mackay - Injury update

Last night's fine 5-1 win over Queen's Park in the Reserve League Cup was overshadowed by an injury to 20-year old Danny Mackay. The talented midfielder, who has spent the best part of last two years on the sidelines due to a serious cruciate knee injury, was making his comeback from an ankle injury suffered in pre-season. Mackay was oustanding in the middle of the park on his return to competitive action - opening the scoring - but fell awkwardly and twisted his knee in the closing minutes of the game.

Dan was discharged from Queen Margaret Hospital earlier this morning on crutches and the initial diagnosis is that it is not, thankfully, further cruciate damage but the full extent of the injury will not be known until a scan on Thursday.
