Cowdenbeath 3 Brechin City 1

Posted August 13, 2011

The Blue Brazil gained some revenge for the play-off defeat in May thanks to a comprehensive 3-1 victory over promotion favourites Brechin City on Saturday afternoon.

Colin Cameron's side played their opponents off the park with a terrific brand of passing football and secured 3 vital points from the 1st home league game of the season in the process.

Cowden dominated from the off and only had to wait 13 minutes for the opener after Mark Ramsay scored his 4th goal of the campaign from a top class Scott Linton delivery. Unfortunately, 'Mini' took a sore one for his troubles and was strechered off with Craig Winter his replacement.

Brechin City equalised against the run of play after Garry Brady was afforded too much time on the edge of the box and the former Tottenham and St. Mirren midfielder found the top corner of Yossi Bejaoui's net on 37 minutes.

The home side eventually regained the lead after a sweeping move ended with Jon Robertson finding Marc McKenzie just inside the box and the sponsor's man of the match sidestepped a challenge before curling a beauty past Craig Nelson.

Sub Jordan Morton put the icing on the cake with 10 mintues remaining after his 30-yarder flew past Nelson into the top corner of the onion bag.
