Danny Mackay has made another significant step towards full match fitness after signing for junior side Dundonald Bluebell on loan until the end of the season.
The talented 19-year old midfielder has spent the best part of the last two years on the sidelines due to a serious cruciate injury but made a very welcome return to 19s football last month and featured as an unused sub for the first team at Dundee last Saturday.
Mackay made the breakthrough during the 2008/09 season and played an integral part in the promotion winning season but was unfortunately injured in the play-off semi-final against East Stirlingshire.
The youngster joins team mates Dean Brett (Tranent Juniors), Kyle Miller (Tranent Juniors), Thomas O'Brien (Kelty Hearts), John Ferguson (Kelty Hearts) and Steven Bennett (Belshill Athletic) out on loan with junior sides in order to gain valuable first team exposure and match fitness. All 6 can be recalled during the loan agreement- such as O'Brien and Miller who have featured recently - if required for first team duties.
Meanwhile, 16-year old keeper Jamie Clelland has been selected to play for Scotland v Wales at under 16 level. The Woodmill High pupil is part of the Blue Brazil under 19s squad but is currently on loan with Hilfoot Swifts. Congratulations Jamie!
