Cowdenbeath 1 Dundee 3

Posted March 9, 2011

The Blue Brazil matched Dundee for large spells of this game but a similar story of cheap goals handed Dundee the points and streched their unbeatend run to a record equaliling 19 games.

Both sides had chances to open the scoring before a rare mistake from Mark Baxter gave away possession on the touchline and Craig Forsyth crossed to Sean Higgins (23) for a tap-in.

Cowden were still very much in the game at the interval but a Dundee goal 3 minutes after the break left the home side with an uphill task. Trialist Bob Malcolm, who otherwise made a solid home debut, failed to clear his lines effectively and, in the resultant scrambel for the loose ball in the box, Stevie Crawford was harshly adjudged to have impeded a Dundee player. Matt Lockwood confidently stroked home the resultant spot kick.

Greg Stewart (55) scored, his third goal in a week, with a neat finish to pull Cowden back into game and the home side can count themselves unlucky not to have found an equaliser as they pinned Dundee back for large parts of the second half. However, the Blue Brazi had David Hay to thanks for keeping the defecit to 1 as Dundee exploited gaps in the Cowden defence on the break. Once such break firmly secured the points for Barry Smith's side with the impressive Craig Forsyth heading home with 5 minutes remaining.
