The Blue Brazil picked up their first point of the season but it should have been more in a completely one sided game at Central Park. Cowden dominated from start-to-finish with an impressive show of flowing football but could not find a way past Alloa keeper David Crawford despite a strong penalty claim and a late effort ruled out for offside.
Cowden completely dominated the opening period and the constant pressure finally paid dividends after 30 minutes. Gareth Wardlaw picked up a ball from Kenny Adamson just inside the penalty area and turned his maker before firing an unstoppable shot high into the net. Alloa were on the ropes but were handed a lifeline just before half-time when a deflected shot from Andy Scott looped over the trialist keeper and into the net.
