Toorie comes home

Posted August 17, 2009

Manager Danny Lennon delved into the transfer market this afternoon to secure the services of former club captain Craig Winter from Forfar Athletic on a one year deal.

'Toorie' is ineligible for Tuesday night's MG ALBA Cup tie against Dundee after being named as a substitute for the Loons in the previous round but goes straight into the squad this weekend.

"I was looking to add a bit more experience and physical presence in the middle of the park and Toorie fits the bill perfectly. I'm sure the fans will be delighted to see him back at the club" said Lennon.

Winter added: "It's good to be back. When I left the club I was in 3rd place in the all time league appearances for Cowden and hopefully I can go on and beat Ray Allan's record."

Originally signed from Raith Rovers in July 1994 by Paddy Dolan, 'Toorie' went onto play in 319 (+ 7 sub) games for Cowden scoring 31 times. Toorie moved to Brechin City in March 2004 and also spent time on the books of Dumbarton and a 2nd spell back at Raith Rovers.

For the record Craig has played in 286 league games for Cowden. Only two players can beat that: Ray Allan (422) and Willie Pullar (294).
