Posted November 12, 2010

The Blue Brazil head south for Dumfries on Saturday to face 5th placed Queen of the South with only one point seperating the teams.

Cowden boss Jimmy Nicholl will be looking to get one over the Palmerston Park team after their early season 3-1 win at Central Park. Nicholl also tated defeat against Queen of the South in a Scottish Cup sem-final when Jimmy Calderwood and Nicholl's side lost 4-3.

Youngsters Greg Stewart and Kyle Miller will be hoping to retain their places after scoring last weekend while Jon Robertson will be pushing for a place in the 16 after missing out against Stirling. Skipper Mark Baxter is doubtul after injuring his shoulder before half-time against Stirling. Beaky saw a specialist in midweek and it seems an operation is not required but Saturday may come too soon.

"We had a good result last weekend against Stirling Albion so I expect the players to go into this match with confidence", commented Nicholl.

"Queen of the South are a difficult teamt to play against and have quality up fron with McLaren and Holmes also the recent addition Colin McMenamin. They were deserved winners against us in the 3rd game of the season and I was impressed with their movement and play.

"It was a good afternoon's work against Stirling Albion last weekend with youngsters Kyle Miller and Greg Stewart making their first starts and both scoring. We started the game well off the pace and got lucky with the equaliser but we took full advantage of the circumstances to win the game well."
