Match Preview: Partick Thistle v Cowdenbeath

Posted October 28, 2010

The Blue Brazil venture into the west end of Glasgow this weekend to face joint bottom Partick Thistle without suspended goalkeeper David Hay.

Ian McCall's side have struggled this season and went down 2-1 at Central Park earlier in the campaign but have a very capable squad at this level and will be out for revenge. Jimmy Nicholl is looking for his side to build on the well earned point at home to Morton last weekend and take another step towards first division survival.

"I was really delighted with the result against Morton given the circumstances", said Nicholl.

"We lost David Hay after only eight minutes and had to play the remainder of the game with only ten men. The boys worked so hard for the result and really dug in there in the second half. It was a great performance and makes you think what might have been if we had kept eleven men on the park.

"Young Lee Wilson was handed a baptism of fire. He didn't even know that he was going to be on the bench and ended making his debut but he handled it really well. He has come on leaps and bounds working with Ludo Roy and David Hay and has the potential to be a really good goalkeeper.

"We have another tough assignment this weekend but three points will again be the target. There is a lot of pressure on Partick to do well this season and it hasn't gone for them so far. Our target is to finish 8th so the pressure will all be on Partick while we will look to get some points in our quest for safety."

Ludo Roy trained this week and the experienced keeper will start in goal if he passes a fitness test on Saturday otherwise 17-year old Lee Wilson will get another chance to impress. Mark Ramsay should return after an eye injury picked up a work while Thomas O'Brien returns from injury. Hay will join the injured Joe Mbu, John Armstrong, Kenny Adamson, Dene Droudge and Danny Mackay in the stand.
