Paul Byrne scored with the last touch of the game to give the second XI a deserved point in Tuesday night’s derby game at Central Park.

The game opened briskly with Ferry of the visitors hitting the post with a 20 yard shot after only two minutes but it was Cowden who grabbed the lead two minutes later when Sibanda set up Kyle Miller who shot into the corner of the net from 16 yards.

The lead was short lived however and Mark Ferry shot home from 18 yards with nine minutes on the clock.

Rovers then took the advantage on 27 minutes when Graham was brought down in the box and Graham Weir slotted home the resulting spot kick.

Six minutes later Cowden were back on level terms when Greg Stewart took advantage of a poor clearance to slot the ball home from 17 yards.

The visitors however restored their lead seven minutes from the break when Tom Graham headed home from a McBride corner.

Cowden came back to draw level from the penalty spot after 73 minutes when Brown handled a Callaghan shot and was sent off before John Ferguson scored from the resultant spot kick.

Minutes later however former Central Parker Scott McBridefired home a 20 yard free kick after Nanetti had been brought down by Vauls.

With 11 minutes to go it looked like we had grabbed an equaliser but Stewart’s header from a Sibanda corner was disallowed. However as the game went into injury time Sibanda fired in a 22 yard free kick which the keeper failed to hold and Byrne was on hand to slot home the rebound for a dramatic end to the game.
