The reserves lost out in a nine goal thriller at New Bayview with Steve Hislop bagging four goals for the Methil side.

The game was only three minutes old when Hislop opened the scoring with a shot from eight yards.

Three minutes later we almost got an equaliser when a 20 yard shot from Robertson crashed off the inside of the post. The equaliser however did eventually come after 13 minutes when Stewart was brought down in the box and Lee Sibanda slotted home the resulting spot kick.

Hislop shot the home side back into the lead after 22 minutes and six minutes later Stuart Cargill put the home side further ahead.

We reduced the deficit on the half hour mark when a Byrne corner was met by Winter who played the ball to Mark Smith who shot home from eight yards.

Two minutes later we were back on level terms. Ferguson was brought down the box but Sibanda’s penalty was blocked by keeper Baillie but the Cowden man quickly followed up to nod home the rebound.

Seven minutes from the end of an eventful first half we took the lead when Colin Cameron tapped the ball home after an initial shot from Ferguson was blocked.

Six minutes into the second half Hislop completed his hat trick and he got the games deciding goal on 61 minutes when he slotted home from the penalty spot after Linn had been fouled in the box.
