The Blue Brazil made it an impressive two wins from the opening four league games as Jimmy Nicholl's team came from a goal behind to defeat Partick Thistle 2-1.
The home side made a poor start to the game again by losing a goal afer only 16 minutes after Kris Doolan capatalised on a rare John Armstrong error to score.
However, the lead lasted less than two minutes as the Thistle defence failed to clear a long throw from Scott Linton and 'Frankie' Fairbairn (18) scored on the turn from 12 yards.
Cowden's winner came 9 minutes into the second half when the oustanding Armstrong atoned for his earlier mistake by volleying home from a Linton corner.
Ian McCall's men pushed for an equaliser but were denied by some heroic defending and and a terrific goalkeeping display from David Hay.
