A goal after only 3 minutes set Queen of the South up for a 3-1 victory at Central Park.

Paul Burns scored the early opener before Derek Holmes (54) took advantage of poor defending to double the advantage.

Jimmy Nicholl changed things around with the introduction of the fit again Jon Robertson and Brian Fairbairn. This changed the game in favour of Cowden and quickly Marc McKenzie reduced the deficit with a wonder strike from 30 yards after 64 minutes. The Blue Brazil pushed for an equaliser  but Ryan McGuffie (85) wrapped up the points for the away side on the counter attack after Cowden cheaply lost possession.
