The wait is over as we return to Park's Motor Group Lowland League action and it is in the familiar setting of Shielfield Park with a 3pm kick off.
Last season’s campaign ended with a 2-0 win over Berwick at Central Park with Shay Burke and Daryl Healy scoring in their last appearances for The Blue Brazil.
Only Sam Neman and new captain Jack Denham remain at Central Park from the starting line up in April while both manager Paul McLean and Finlay Ness, playing as a trialist, came off the bench.
THE OPPOSITION
It was a disappointing campaign for the Tweedmouth side last season and it took until the second last day of the campaign and a win over Cumbernauld to preserve their Lowland League status, eventually finishing two points ahead of the bottom two Gala and Broomhill with 33 points.
In the pre-season build up the Borderers lost to a Hibernian Development side 3-2 at Shielfield Park with Taylor Hendry and Liam Buchanan both pulling back goals after Hibs had been two goals ahead.
Their first win came against Whitehill Welfare at Ferguson Park, 5-1, thanks to goals from Kyle Sommers, with both Greig Binnie and Liam Buchanan coming off the bench to bag braces.
That was followed up by a trip south to Sam Smith’s Park and 2-1 win over Newcastle Benfield. Callum Antell was injured as Benfield took the lead and Jamie Pyper took over in goal and kept a clean sheet as his side came back to win thanks to goals from summer signing Michael Mbewe who hit a brace in the second half.
They then completed their build up with a 3-1 home win over Penicuik Athletic with goals from goals from Greig Binnie, Niall Kemp and Straun Mair.
